WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, which is the product of Clostridium Botulinum bacteria. The area of its first application was ophthalmology, neurology, paediatrics, and Botox gained incomparable popularity in aesthetic medicine as a means of beautification, more specifically for the “removing wrinkles”. It is also used to reduce excessive sweating in the armpits, palms, and soles.
Since 2007, Botox treatment has been the most commonly used procedure in anti-age medicine in the world. Only 4.6 million procedures are performed in America on the annual basis, in accordance with the recommendations of the American Plastic Surgeons Association.
Botox works by blocking the nerve impulses towards the muscles. Some wrinkles, known as “mimic wrinkles”, are the result of normal muscle movements.
